Fire and Smoke Damage

Even a small fire produces a significant amount of residual damage. Smoke can spread to your furniture, clothes, electronics and ventilating system. Depending on what has burned during the fire, Sentry Construction Company can use many different combinations of air, surface, and below surface cleaning and sealing solutions.

Our Proven Fire Damage Restoration System:

1. Assess the Damage

We immediately determine what type of smoke has caused the damage:

  •  Wet Smoke - usually associated with smoldering, carries a particularly pungent odor, and is sticky and smeary to the gloved hand.
  • Dry Smoke – from fast burning, high temperature fires.
  • Protein based Smoke - Nearly invisible, but badly discolors paints and varnishes – also carries a very pungent odor.
  • Fuel Oil Soot – from commercial or home furnaces when they "puff" back smoke, causing oily, hazardous soot.

2. Odor Removal

The best way to guarantee smoke odor removal is by removing any smoke sources that remain from the fire by thorough cleaning. Sometimes, however, it is necessary to follow that up with professional deodorization techniques and surface sealing.

3. Deodorizing

  • Ozone
Ozone is an allotrope of oxygen.  It is an oxidizer that has great uses in fire and smoke damage restoration. Ozone is used to remove odors, not cover them up. We use advanced ozone generators which produce pure ozone gas, permanently removing the odors and generally without harming furnishings.

  • Thermal Fogging
Sentry uses advanced thermal fogging to produce a dry thick smoke that destroys odors, and will neutralize particle sizes as small as .25 microns, reaching into cracks and crevices in surfaces affected by smoke and moisture. This treatment effectively neutralizes odors and leaves a pleasant fragrance.

4. Surface Cleaning

Sentry uses many different specialized EPA-approved products to clean hard surfaces like walls, cabinets, floors, and appliances, and to deep clean soft surfaces like carpeting, and upholstery.

5. HVAC Sanitization

Specialized cleaning processes work to remove smoke and fire residues from your heating and air ductwork and equipment, leaving the HVAC system clean and fresh!
